Responding to reports ministers have urged Theresa May to sideline Boris Johnson from the election campaign, Liberal Democrat Shadow Foreign Secretary Tom Brake commented:
"How can Boris Johnson be trusted to represent his country abroad but not his own party at home?
"Clearly Theresa May is more worried about putting off voters than offending our close friends and allies around the world.
"Hiding Boris away in Chevening will not make Remain voters forget that this Government has chosen the hardest and most divisive form of Brexit.
"This election is a chance to change the direction of the country and challenge Theresa May's hard Brexit agenda."
