The incoming Newhaven Mayor, Rod Main, was joined by some of his Liberal Democrat Town Council colleagues on a private trip to Dieppe aboard the new ferry, Cote D'Alabtre.

Rod said, "I thought it would be good to experience the new boat for myself since I'm sure I will be asked about it when out and about during my mayoral year."

The Lib Dem team was impressed by the facilities on board and found the new ship much quieter than the older boats had been.

"Altogether a good day out, we are very pleased to see that Transmanche is willing to invest in vessels of this quality and look forward to welcoming the Seven Sisters later this year." added local councillor Julie Carr.
