Lib Dems have been campaigning for years to stop the Newhaven incinerator.

Members of the public should write to the inspector by this Saturday, 10th November.

In your letter to the inspector you could make the points below, but personalising the letter will have the most impact.

  • The proposed incinerator is the wrong facility on the wrong site.

  • As local residents you are aware of the need for alternatives to landfill in the area, but there are better alternatives to the incinerator.

  • Alternative waste plans have been costed based on composting, more recycling and mechanical biological treatment - that will be more sustainable and faster to implement than an incinerator.

  • There are alternative proposals for housing for the land, and the need for new housing in East Sussex's coastal settlements is particularly great.

Letters should be addressed to Mrs Vyse, c/o GOSE, 1 Walnut Tree Close, Guildford, GU1 4GA, quoting reference GOSE105001/ESCC/49678-CPO ESCC (land at North Quay, Newhaven).
