Local Lib Dem campaigner Chris Bowers discusses how to reduce your carbon footprint with a local resident.

Around 200 people turned up to the Environment Fair on 13 October to take part in the opening event for Low-Carbon Ringmer.

The fair was the launch event for the Low Carbon Ringmer community campaign organised by Ringmer's Liberal Democrat councillors Chris Bowers and Peter Gardiner (district) and Rosalyn St Pierre (county).

The campaign is aimed at getting people to maximise the potential for reducing their impact on the environment in ways that save them money. It is also focused on getting people to record what carbon dioxide savings they're making in order to come up with an overall tonnage figure that Ringmer has saved.

"It was a great start," says Chris Bowers. "We weren't sure how many people to expect, but getting close to 200 exceeded our wildest dreams, and we are now considering whether to repeat the event this spring. But the most important thing is that people take on board the advice offered and cut down on their environmental impact - in most cases that will save them money."
