"Lewes should be in the national park"1.01.17pm UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 27th Feb 2008
Local Lib Dems are backing calls for Lewes to be included in the South Downs National Park. Lewes councillor Rosalyn St. Pierre says: "It was the wrong decision to remove Lewes from the National Park. The inclusion of Lewes is vital to the success of the Park through the cultural and architectural character of the town. Inclusion will be the mean greater protection. "We are therefore supporting the South Downs Committee's request that Lewes should be reinstated to the National Park."
