Shadow Transport Secretary Norman Baker has called on the government to re-open the Lewes-Uckfield line.

Lewes Lib Dems campaign to reopen the Lewes - Uckfield line will receive the results of a study by the summer.

Local MP and Shadow Transport Secretary Norman Baker says: "If elected for the next Parliament one of my main aims would be to see this line reopen. There would be many advantages for Lewes: bringing people into the town from surrounding areas, giving access to West Kent and avoiding the busy Balcombe viaduct."

This study will look at the possible crossing of the River Ouse and the junction with the main Lewes - London line.
