Lewes councillors have called on the county council to stop cuts to bus services on the Nevill estate. Sign the petition at: http://snipurl.com/savethe128

The county council is proposing to cut services from Lewes estates to the town centre at crucial times in the morning and afternoon for workers and school students.

Nevill councillor Ian Eiloart says: "The 128 bus is well-used, particularly at the times when the county is planning to make cuts. These cuts would lead to increased traffic congestion and pollution in the town."

Leader of the District Council, Ann De Vecchi says: "At a time when local people are making a real effort to get out of their cars and use public transport, it is ridiculous that the county council is planning to cut bus services."

Ann adds: "The county council had an excellent government settlement this year. Its unforgivable to cut our essential bus services, while sitting on millions of pounds of reserves."

Residents can write to the county council to oppose the changes by May 9th. Letters should be addressed to Mark Evans, Contracts Officer, East Sussex County Council, County Hall, St Anne's Crescent, Lewes, BN7 1UE
