Local Lib Dems Norman Baker, Jon Freeman and Tracy Willis have been campaigning for almost 10 years for the new buildings.

Seaford Lib Dem campaigners have secured £4 million for new buildings at Cradle Hill and Chyngton Primary schools.

£2 million has been allocated to each school for permanent buildings after almost ten years of campaigning to replace the temporary buildings currently used.

Local town councillor Tracy Willis says: "We have fought for these improvements for 9 years, so its great news. The new buildings should also allow us to expand pre-school, and increase after-school and holiday clubs."

Better quality facilities are set not only to benefit the pupils of the primary schools during class time, but also in the evenings and school holidays. There have been a lack of appropriate buildings for the pre-school but the new funding should go some way to improving this. After-school and holiday clubs will also become more viable, and local people are keen to expand activities such as dance classes in the new facilities.

Lib Dem County councillor Jon Freeman says: "Seaford will soon become the youngest town in the district. It is essential that new services for children and young people are put in place to cope with this growing demand. So its great news that all the hard work campaigning for this money has finally paid off."
