Ringmer, Barcombe, Hamsey and Glynde Liberal DemocratsSafer School Crossing NeededLibDem County Councillor Rosalyn St Pierre is campaigning for a safer, controlled crossing on the main road to serve the two schools. The January 2006 edition of Focus asking for residents to send in a signed form to express support has already resulted in over 100 signatures being sent to Rosalyn: thanks to all those who did so. She will now gather more signatures around the schools to add before sending a petition in to the County Council. Another Reservoir?Moves have started towards a new reservoir being planned for somewhere between Barcombe and Ringmer, site to be decided. With South East Water losing 68 million litres of water every day through leaking pipes, we are pressing for action to cut down this waste before any reservoir is built. Rosalyn St Pierre will monitor planning mov es very closely and demand that leakages be cut first. Falmer StadiumJohn Prescott has overruled two Planning Inspectors who advised that Brighton & Hove Albion's application for a stadium at Falmer should be denied:Prescott decided to grant permission. Lewes District Council is taking legal action to challenge his decision, which would set a precedent for any other area under similar special protection (e.g. land near the South Downs around Ringmer). With the help of other organisations also keen to fight this decision, the District Council has a maximum risk of only £25,000 if it loses, and nothing if it wins.
