PLUMPTON COUNCILLOR BACKS CALL FOR COMPENSATION OVER 4 MONTH ROAD CLOSURE

Councillor Sarah Osborne, Plumpton's District Councillor, is backing a cross-community campaign for both businesses and the local community to receive compensation for Network Rail closing the main road running through the village for over 4 months after planning permission was initially refused for a new level crossing.

Sarah said: "Network Rail should say 'sorry' to villagers for months of disruption. They need to speak with the Parish Council and make a suitable financial contribution.

"For four months Plumpton residents have suffered with the road closed, cutting the village in two. Public and school buses had to be re-routed.

"Parents faced massive detours to get their children to primary school every day. Emergency vehicles have had to do detours and, during the recent flooding of parallel roads Plumpton was effectively cut off. Disabled and elderly residents haven't been able to catch the train to go west of the village."
