At the General Election in Lewes on 5th May 2005, 46552 votes were cast (approximately 69% of the total number of eligible voters) with the following result:

Norman Baker (Liberal Democrats): 24376 votes (-3.9%).

Rory Love (Conservative): 15902 votes (-0.7%).

Richard Black (Labour): 4169 votes (+1.7%).
