After nearly 500 hours worth of sewage dumps into Barcombe Mills, we're calling for protection of the river by granting it bathing status.
Under bathing status, rivers are subject to the same testing as seaside swimming spots.
Other rivers have already been given this status including the part of the River Wharfe that flows through Ilkley.
Tory MPs have already voted down measures, to name and shame sewage companies who pollute in rivers, and bathing status in Barcombe is a way to take local action.
James MacCleary Lib Dem parliamentary campaigner for Lewes said:
“This would be an amazing chance to clean up our rivers, and make them accessible for everyone to enjoy."
I/we the undersigned call on the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to grant Barcombe Mills Bathing Water Status
