The centre of Ditchling and the surrounding narrow lanes are frequently blocked by large lorries driving through despite there being a prohibition in the village for any vehicle over a 7.5 tonne weight limit.
These lorries are regularly causing havoc for drivers, pedestrians, cyclists and to those living in the houses on these roads. Parked cars are damaged, residents on the routes taken by these very large lorries fear their properties will be damaged and pedestrians are worried that they may be injured or worse as these lorries try to squeeze through totally unsuitable narrow roads.
We the undersigned call on East Sussex County Council and Sussex Police to work together to enforce the 7.5 tonne limit on HGVs through Ditchling and find a sustainable solution to this problem which has such a detrimental effect on residents' quality of life.
