Kate Wood is an active local councillor who has the skills to make a difference in Lewes
- standing up for local businesses
- campaigning for equality and opportunity
- working to solve climate change.
Understanding small business
Kate is an award-winning senior professional who runs her own successful consultancy. With nearly 25% of our town self-employed, Kate will campaign to support local businesses and the self-employed through the challenges of Covid, Brexit and the digital transformation of the economy.
A campaigner for equality and opportunity
Kate has developed national policy on women’s recruitment and campaigned to tackle violence against women and girls. She has worked as a mentor with The Prince’s Trust, working with young men to change their life chances.
Real insight on climate change
A degree in life sciences means Kate understands the challenges of the climate crisis. She volunteers to protect one of Lewes’ most important green spaces and professionally she has worked on projects that tackle climate change through clean energy, green chemistry and open science.
At East Sussex County Council and across the county, the Liberal Democrats are the main opposition to Conservative neglect, opposing cuts to vital children’s and adult services. With over £800m of budget and more proposed cuts, we need a strong and capable opposition to push back and protect our public services.
