Lib Dems slam Southern Rail for failing to make consultation available offline

Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate Kelly-Marie Blundell and Seaford Lib Dems have slammed Southern Rail for failing to make the timetable consultation, which commenced on 15th September 2016, available offline.

KMB_NB_Sfrd_(1)_(Small).JPGKelly-Marie said; “Southern Rail are failing to provide full access to their consultation by not having the papers accessible offline. For those without internet access, notably the elderly and those with disabilities, this could amount to discrimination.

“The consultation launched on 15th September 2016, and while you can write to Southern Rail for a paper copy, to get that address you have to be able to access their website.

“Eleven percent of adults never access the internet, and are notably the most vulnerable in society. So why is Southern Rail not ensuring their voices can also be heard?

“Even the ‘Meet the Managers’ Events are held in London but not in Lewes, Newhaven or Seaford, all of which will be significantly affected should the proposals in the consultation go through.”

The consultation paper can be accessed at, or people can write to Southern Rail at GTR Timetable Consultation, c/o East Side Offices. London Kings Cross Station, N1C 4AP. Submissions close on Thursday 8th December 2016.

Seaford Lib Dems are leading a campaign against proposals in the consultation to remove trains that run direct from Seaford to London during peak hours.
