Join us at 7pm on Thursday 14th January to hear local member, Dr Sarah Pitt, talk about the various approaches which are being taken to develop COVID-19 vaccines. Sarah has been a Principal Lecturer in Microbiology at the University of Brighton since 2013, following a career working in hospital laboratories across the UK and in Zimbabwe and Tajikistan, and more recently in university lecturing and research. She is a Fellow of her professional body, the Institute of Biomedical Science, where she is also the Chief Examiner in Virology.
Sarah’s talk will include details about the vaccines which have passed phase III clinical trials and are now being used in vaccination programmes. There will also be a chance to discuss how vaccination fits into the wider strategy of controlling the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, equity in distribution, and ‘vaccine hesitancy’.
This event does not have an entrance fee but if you are able to make a small donation of £3-£5 to cover costs, that will be greatly appreciated.
