East Sussex County Council are withdrawing buses that take our children to school at Seahaven Academy.
The proposed withdrawal of this service has caused anger among many parents who have children already attending the school or are about to start. Parents fear for their children's safety and feel the bus service provides a safe passage for children to travel to and from school. They are especially concerned about the winter months when the day gets dark early. They fear there could be increased issues with antisocial behaviour from children making their way home by foot, and there will be a large increase in traffic on already over congested roads around the school, putting childrens safety at risk and causing air pollution at the school gates.
The bus service has always been funded by East Sussex County Council and this appears to be purely money-saving exercise by the council. We are terefore asking that:
East Sussex County Council are cancelling the Seahven School Bus. We, the undersigned, call on East Sussex County Council to reverse this decision.
