Seaford is about to lose its last remaining full-service high street bank when the Halifax branch closes its doors on 19 January 2026. This will leave our town without any full-service bank, putting local businesses, older residents, and those without digital access at a serious disadvantage.

We, the undersigned, call on LINK – the UK’s cash access and ATM network – to urgently establish a Banking Hub in Seaford. These hubs provide shared services from major banks and the Post Office, ensuring continued access to cash, face-to-face banking, and financial support for everyone in our community.

Why this matters:

  • Local businesses need access to cash services and regular deposits to operate effectively.
  • Older people and digitally excluded residents rely on in-person support to manage their finances.
  • Banking Hubs have already helped towns like ours across the UK – Seaford deserves the same.

Seaford Banking Hub

We urge LINK to: * Recognise Seaford as a priority location for a Banking Hub. * Work with local stakeholders to deliver a solution before the Halifax branch closes. * Ensure that access to cash and in-person banking remains available to all. Add your name to show your support. Together, we can protect access to essential banking services in Seaford.

🗣️ Cllr Freddie Hoareau, Lewes District Council (Lib Dem)
“Bank closures have left towns like Seaford struggling. A Banking Hub is essential to restore access for everyone, especially older residents and small businesses who rely on cash and personal support to stay afloat.

🗣️ Cllr Christine Brett, Lewes District Council (Lib Dem)

“Seaford is a vibrant town with a growing population, but the lack of banking services holds people back. From small businesses trying to stay afloat to older residents needing face-to-face support, a Banking Hub would restore vital access and strengthen our local economy.”

🗣️ Cllr Carolyn Lambert, East Sussex County Council (Lib Dem)

“This is about making banking accessible to everyone. Many people either can’t or choose not to manage their finances online. A Banking Hub offers a reliable, community-focused solution that ensures no one is left behind.”
