Avis Road petition

Petition for pedestrian crossing and consistent speed limit on Avis Road

Denton residents request that East Sussex County Council install a secure pedestrian crossing on Avis Road. Residents are rightfully concerned regarding the safety of school children, senior citizens, and individuals with disabilities who regularly cross at Drove Ponds on Avis Road.

East Sussex County Council has asserted that they are unaware of any demand for a crossing at this location. However, in 2020, council members submitted a petition signed by nearly 200 residents advocating for the installation of a crossing.

Residents contend that Avis Road poses a significant danger, citing several near-miss incidents they have witnessed. They urgently request that the council take immediate action to avert a catastrophic accident.
