Don't cancel May 2025 elections

Protect Local Democracy– Don’t Delay East Sussex County Council Elections We strongly oppose the Conservative-led East Sussex County Council’s proposal to postpone the May 2025 local elections. This undemocratic move would deny residents our right to hold the Council accountable after years of mismanagement. Delaying elections for a possible reorganisation that is years away undermines public trust and silences local voices at a critical time. Elections are a cornerstone of democracy, and residents deserve the opportunity to vote for representatives who reflect their priorities, especially as decisions are made about the future of local government which will affect residents for generations to come. Postponing elections denies our communities this right and allows a failing, unpopular, lame-duck administration to cling to power. I/we the undersigned call on the Labour Minister for Local Government to ensure the May 2025 local elections go ahead as scheduled, protecting democracy and giving East Sussex residents the say they deserve.
