ELECTION LATEST: It's so close

Elections in Lewes are a close fight between the Liberal Democrats and Conservatives

Your vote WILL make the difference between whether our next MP is Lib Dem James MacCleary or a Conservative MP.

How people vote in closely fought constituencies like here in Lewes will decide the result of the upcoming General Election.

In the Lewes constituency at the last General Election it was neck and neck between the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats, there were just 2,457 votes between them. Just a handful of votes could decide which of them wins this time.

Every vote will make a difference between a Conservative or Lib Dem win here.

Labour and the Green Party can't beat the Tories in across this area at a General Election.

Lib Dem or Conservative here

There are two choices. Either we will get a Conservative MP - and the out of touch government will continue to take our part of Sussex for granted, or we will get a Lib Dem MP in James MacCleary and our area will have helped bring down this government.

No other result is possible here.

A Labour or Green vote will help the Conservatives win

A vote for third-place Labour or the fourth-place Green Party here risks letting the Conservative MP sneak a win and help this government cling to power.

The Lewes Constituency covers a large area of the rural South Downs - as well as Lewes itself, Polegate, Willingdon and the coastal towns of Newhaven and Seaford.

Whilst both Labour and the Green Party have pockets of support locally, neither have ever come close to winning right across this constituency in a General Election.
