Banking Hubs in Lewes, Newhaven and Seaford

Freddie bank

Seaford is about to lose its last remaining full-service high street bank when the Halifax branch closes its doors on 19 January 2026. This will leave our town without any full-service bank, putting local businesses, older residents, and those without digital access at a serious disadvantage.

We, the undersigned, call on LINK – the UK’s cash access and ATM network – to urgently establish a Banking Hub in Seaford. These hubs provide shared services from major banks and the Post Office, ensuring continued access to cash, face-to-face banking, and financial support for everyone in our community.

Why this matters:

  • Local businesses need access to cash services and regular deposits to operate effectively.

  • Older people and digitally excluded residents rely on in-person support to manage their finances.

  • Banking Hubs have already helped towns like ours across the UK – Seaford deserves the same.

We urge LINK to: * Recognise Seaford as a priority location for a Banking Hub. * Work with local stakeholders to deliver a solution before the Halifax branch closes. * Ensure that access to cash and in-person banking remains available to all. Add your name to show your support. Together, we can protect access to essential banking services in Seaford.

Newhaven has been without a high street bank for years. This ongoing lack of access to full-service banking puts our town at a serious disadvantage — especially for local businesses, older residents, and those without reliable digital access. Now, with the last full-service Bank branches closing in Lewes and Seaford, there will be no branches nearby. People and Businesses from Newhaven will have to travel to Brighton or Eastbourne for full banking services.

We, the undersigned, call on LINK – the UK’s cash access and ATM network – to urgently establish a Banking Hub in Newhaven.

  • Banking Hubs have already helped towns like ours across the UK – Newhaven deserves the same.
