Return Seaford-London Direct Trains
Residents in Seaford, Newhaven, and Southease were told the suspension of direct services to London Victoria was a "temporary" measure during the pandemic. Years later, we are still waiting.
Forcing commuters to change trains adds delays, overcrowding, and stress to daily journeys.
Cllr Freddie Hoareau says:
“It is disappointing that a 'temporary' Covid cut has become the permanent status quo. We've regularly seen lifts breaking at Lewes station. Adding the need to change adds a hurdle for people in a wheelchair or with accessibility needs, so a direct service would give them an extra option. There is also a tight connection changing trains at Lewes, delays can mean people miss the train and have to wait even longer to get home.
"Seaford residents are paying higher fares for a worse service. It’s time Southern Rail listened to our community and reinstated the direct trains up to London."
Return Seaford-London Direct Trains
To Southern Rail and the Department for Transport: We, the undersigned, demand Southern reinstate the full direct service between Seaford and London Victoria.
